Ratu Epeli Nailatikau is the new Interim Minister for Provincial Development and Multi-Ethnic Affairs taking over the portfolio from Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama.

This is line with announcements the Interim PM made at the Mini-Economic Summit convened a fortnight ago and in response to outcry from people living in the rural and outer islands for improved infrastructure and public services.

Bainimarama said the portfolio was given to Nailatikau because of his extensive knowledge and hands on experience on the workings of the Civil Service, government's role in rural development and the sources of assistance available to facilitate such development.

Meanwhile, Commodore Bainimarama has taken up the vacant position of Interim Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Civil Aviation Minister until a new Interim Minister is appointed.
