The Colonial War Memorial Hospital has received more than $12,000 to renovate its Acute Surgical Ward.

This is the first time for the Vodafone ATH Fiji Foundation to be involved in a new community initiative project.

Permanent Secretary for Health, Dr Salanieta Saketa said the ministry was grateful for the corporate social responsibility.

She said CWM needs a lot of help, particularly the maintenance of facility and they appreciate the assistance.

CWM's risk manager, Raymond John said the Acute ward was built in 1995 and there had been no renovations till now.

He said the ward has 24 beds with 16 staff nurses and three teams of doctors.

He said the ward ceilings and staff change rooms need renovations as well as other areas.
