The Colonial War Memorial Hospital in Suva this morning received close to thirty two thousand dollars worth of much needed infusion pumps from the Latter Day Saints Church.

LDS church spokesperson, Peter Lee said that these pumps which took over a year to acquire was made possible through their partnership with the public sector.

He added that this was all part of the wish list from the Health Minister, Doctor Neil Sharma.

CWM Superintendent Doctor Ifiremi Waqainabete said that these pumps will be used in the intensive Care Unit and high dependency units.

Doctor Waqainabete said that in the past their nurses would keep a strict eye on patients that need transfusion, IV treatment or who were dehydrated to ensure that they get the correct doses of medicine.

However with the new infusion pumps, all they have to do is punch in the dosage and the machine will do the rest.

The eight infusion pumps worth $32,000 will be handed over to the various departments today.

Meanwhile, the LDS church is also partnering with the Health Ministry in more work at CWM, projects like the rehabilitation of the hospital kitchen.
