CRW soldiers shouldn’t be underestimated
In an exclusive interview with Village News, Commodore Bainimarama said the rebel soldiers during the mutiny shot the loyal soldiers at random and innocent lives were lost.
He said he is concerned that some of the families of the rebel soldiers want compensation but people need to understand that these soldiers came to kill the loyalist soldiers and take over the RFMF in 2000.
Commodore Bainimarama also said that the trust that he had earlier placed on the former CRW soldiers who were involved in the 2000 coup has been lost after they carried out the mutiny in November 2000.
He reveals that he allowed the former CRW soldiers to move around freely at QEB, thinking that they had learnt their lesson after the 2000 coup but they found out on November 2nd, 2000 that the rebel soldiers had other plans in place.
Some of the former CRW soldiers charged in relation to the assassination plot were involved in the events of 2000.
