The Criminal Investigation Department units in Labasa took time out on Friday to visit crime victims whose cases are before the court or pending investigations and were housed under the care of the Salvation Army Church Family Care Centre.

The CID team was led by Crime Officer Labasa Inspector Margaret Marshall.

Inspector Marshall said most of the people housed at the Centre are victims of crimes whose cases are pending in court or whose investigations are still ongoing and they have been turned away from their own home.

She said most of the victims in the centre have a story to tell and it is one where society, family and in some cases religion have disowned them.

The residents in the centre include two police cases, a woman who has been turned away by her husband and four school students.
