A CID officer based at the CID Headquarters has been sent on leave after allegations that he wrote an unsigned letter to the Interim Prime Minister claiming that Police Commissioner Commodore Esala Teleni and his Deputy Eroni Antonio wanted to stage a coup.

The officer was sent on leave last week and is now being investigated by his fellow officers.

The officer implicated holds a rank of Corporal and was sent on leave after intensive CID investigations directed by the Commissioner of Police.

This is the same letter which resulted in Assistant Police Commissioner Crime, Nasir Ali being sent on leave by Deputy Police Commissioner, Eroni Antonio a few months ago.

Attempts to get comments from ACP Ali who is on annual leave proved futile.
