Communications Fiji Limited today announced a record profit of $48,469 dollars for the first six months until June 30th 2007, compared to a loss of $139,240 dollars for the same period last year.

In a statement, Managing Director William Parkinson said while the result may not appear significant at first, it represents a turnaround the company achieved in difficult circumstances.

It was also stated that CFL's Fiji broadcast operations have delivered very strong results for the first half despite a certain level of uncertainty in the market.

Fiji operations delivered a pretax profit of close to $185,000, a big improvement on last year's result of a little of $81,000.

Key reasons for the result has been strict control on expenses, maintaining radio advertising sales at 2006 levels and rapid revenue growth from new media areas like mobile phone content and fijivillage.com.
