CCF prefers Watchdog role
Executive Director Reverend Akuila Yabaki said participation in the National Council for Building a Better Fiji would ensure long term change and progress for the people of the country, and those invited to be part of the council should give it due consideration.
And as the Prime Minister's office is expected to send out invitations from next week to people to join the National Council, Yabaki said the CCF would have to seriously consider how it wants to contribute in the process. He said the CCF may serve a better role as a watchdog rather then being part of the National Council.
However, Fiji Human Right's Commissioner Shamima Ali is off the view that those who believe in the constitution and the rule of law would not accept invitations to be part of the National Council.
Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office Pramesh Chand confirms that they are putting together the names of people who they believe will be suitable to assist the Co chairpersons, Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama and Head of the Catholic Church Archbishop Petero Mataca in the National Council for building a better Fiji.
