CCF criticises Suva Mayor for unofficial car use
Volavola said the former Mayors of Suva also had used the mayoral vehicle for their private use and he should not be questioned on the issue.
Volavola also said he has received an approval from the councillors and the Town clerk that he can take his mayoral vehicle to use in the Methodist Church conference in Vanua Levu.
Meanwhile Town Clerk for the Suva City Council, Ilitomasi Vere-na-kadavu has stressed that Mayor Ratu Peni Volavola has got council's approval to take the official mayoral vehicle to Vanua Levu, for his personal use at the Methodist church conference.
Verenakadavu said all expenses have been paid by Ratu Peni and council did not spend a single cent, apart from releasing the vehicle.
The Citizens Constitutional Forum said it is concerned that yet again Suva Mayor, Ratu Peni Volavola has engaged in bad practices by shipping off his official mayoral vehicle to Vanua Levu, for use in his personal capacity at the Methodist church conference.
Chief Executive Officer Reverend Akuila Yabaki said misuse of council privileges by Ratu Peni clearly shows that he does not have much to contribute to the Methodist church in terms of good governance practices.
