The Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji is now awaiting an investigation report after an Air Pacific aircraft bound for Sydney yesterday morning sustained damages, after a cargo loading vehicle ran into the side of the plane.
CAAFI Chief Executive Netava Waqa said they have to ensure such incidents do not occur in the future.
In a statement, Air Pacific said the B747 was being loaded for a 9am flight to Sydney when the cargo loading vehicle hit the side of the plane.
The damage caused was relatively minor but required repair before the aircraft could be released for further flight operations.
As a consequence an Air Pacific B767 aircraft that had been scheduled for routine maintenance was towed for the Air Pacific hangar to the International terminal to cater for the Sydney flight.
The B767 took off at midday with 269 customers on board.
No one was injured in the incident and an investigation has been launched to look into the incident.
