The Public Works Department is expected to complete the construction of the bypass road in Seaqaqa on the Savusavu/Labasa Highway beside major landslide by this afternoon.

Road Supervisor Seaqaqa, Matei Matakai said they hope the road works will be completed so that it is accessible to teachers and students as schools open for first term on Tuesday.

According to Matakai light vehicles can cross the temporary road however motorists need to take precautions.

He added that heavy rainfall is hindering their construction work.

Meanwhile, people traveling to Labasa in ferrys via Savusavu or Nabouwalu, had to face a lot of difficulties as they had to get off their buses and walk through the bushes beside the landslide with their belongings and board another abuse on the other side of the road.
