A Lautoka businessman, who was attacked in his home by unknown men yesterday, has died this morning due to injuries sustained during the incident.

Police spokesperson Fred Elbourne confirmed that the businessman died this morning and now they are treating the case as murder.

Armed robbers broke into his house in the early hours of yesterday morning, assaulted the security guard on duty before attacking the businessman.

In the process, the businessman was stabbed by one of the robbers and was rushed to hospital for emergency surgery.

The victim was operating a beach-de-mer export business in Fiji for the last 12 years and it is understood that the robbers wanted to gain access to the bulk store.
