A 38 year old businessman of Suva charged with kidnapping or abducting in order to subject person for grievous harm and act with intent to cause grievous harm has been remanded in custody by the Labasa Court this morning.

It is alleged that Rajesh Raman with an accomplice allegedly kept a 13 year old boy under lock and chain for two days and further tortured the boy and also poured warm sugar syrup on the victim’s body.

An application for bail was made in Court today however the State objected to the application and Magistrate Amendra Vikram-surya remanded Raman in police custody till tomorrow where ruling will be made on the bail application. Plea has been deferred to a later date.

Meanwhile, Police are questioning another woman in relation to this case.
