A 44 year old Makoi businessman who allegedly assaulted his wife and shot off a firearm in the air appeared in the Nasinu Magistrate Court today.

Vishwa Nandan has been charged with criminal intimidation and appeared before Magistrate Alofa Seruvatu.

He has been granted a $1000 dollar bail and is expected to appear in court on 6th February.

Police confirmed earlier that Nandan allegedly punched and kicked his 43 old wife following a domestic dispute between them and then allegedly fired a shot in the air.

Meanwhile, police are investigating the incident where an 8 year old girl was sexually molested by a 39 year old man.

According to Divisional Crime Officer, ASP Ramesh Chand the incident took place in a farm house in Vunidawa earlier this week.

Chand said that the two know each other.

Police investigations are continuing and the man is expected to be charged and taken to court tomorrow.
