Business In Labasa Town Prepared For Worse
Labasa Mayor Shivlal Nagindas said they have been prepared for over a week.
Nagindas said people from the rural areas around Labasa have also stocked up on essential supplies if they have to evacuate. He said there is a steady flow of people into the supermarkets as people are taking heed of the flash flood warning.
Commissioner Northern, Inia Seruiratu confirms that strong winds have subsided but heavy rain continues. He confirms that several roads in Labasa and Savusavu remain closed to traffic due to flooding.

A resident and owner of Satish Motor Mart, Satish Kumar said people should be prepared because if the weather continues, there is a possiblity that Labasa will also face flooding.
The evacuation centres which are active in Labasa are the Sangam Primary School, Naqai Community Hall, Bulileka Secondary School, Valebasoga Secondary School, Qawa Primary School, Civic Centre, Vunimoli Secondary School and Korotari Indian College.
