Fifteen school students and two adults were rushed to the Korovou Hospital after the bus they were travelling in went off the road and landed in a drain in Burerua at around 8 o'clock this morning.

Station Officer Korovou Inspector Inise Uluvula had confirmed that the driver and two other passengers also sustained serious injuries.

A 70 year old woman, who was sitting behind the driver’s seat, was thrown out of the bus through the windscreen and sustained serious injuries.

Another man in his 50s also broke his leg and both have been transferred to the CWM hospital.

Inspector Uluvula said the rear tyre of the bus burst causing the bus to veer off the road.

There were close to 60 passengers in the bus during the incident.

Police are expected to release more details in the next hour.
