Bus tickets still not being issued
Fijivillage investigated the matter today at the Suva bus stand and witnessed that all buses have the tickets however most drivers are not issuing it to the passengers.
We witnessed them tearing the ticket from the butt and placing it in plastic bags.
Several passengers we spoke to said they are not given the tickets until they ask for it.
Many of the drivers opted not to comment on the matter.
One driver who refused to give his name said it is the responsibility of the passengers to ask for the tickets.
Land Transport Authority spokesperson Ratu Eroni Volavola confirmed they have been reassured by bus companies that tickets will be issued from today.
Volavola reiterated that people should demand for a bus ticket as there are numerous complaints about overcharging by drivers.
Meanwhile, Fiji Bus Operators Association president Zane Dean also confirmed tickets will be issued from today and he asks people to demand for tickets as the ticket will determine whether the person has been overcharged.
