The Consumer council of Fiji is urging bus proprietors to take advantage of the reduction of fiscal duty on new buses.
Consumer Council of Fiji Chief Executive Officer Premila Kumar said that the poor and dilapidated condition of some buses has been a great concern for the council.
Fiscal duty on new buses for the transport of 23 persons or more will be reduced from 32 percent to 5 percent and import excise reduced from 15 percent to 5 percent.
Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama has encouraged all bus proprietors to take advantage of this reduction as soon as possible.
