Parents are being asked to advise their children who are students that the bus fare money given to them is not for snacks.
Transport Ministry Spokesperson, Sainiana Waqainabete said it has been brought to their attention, via complaints, that students are not using their bus fare money given under the Free School Bus Fare Program for this very purpose.
Waqainabete urges parents to advise their children on the importance of not spending their bus fare money.
Meanwhile, Waqainabete earlier said the government committee overseeing the Free School Bus Fare Program is currently exploring some better neater distribution options to ensure the program runs smoothly, with the hope that they find a solution within one and a half weeks.
Bus drivers and operators have also been warned that stringent action will be taken against those who overcharge students when they travel in buses.
The Free School Bus Fare Program was implemented last Wednesday to last until the end of the term.
