The Interim Transport Minister has issued a directive to reduce current bus fare rate by 10% which will be effective next Monday.
Timoci Natuva said in response to the extra-ordinary reduction in imported fuel prices, the 10 percent reduction to current bus fare is a reversal of the 10% fare increase directed by the then line Minister on the 7th January 2008, granted to the Fiji Bus Operators Association.
However, the matter is still to be discussed by the Fiji Bus Operators Association.
President Pyara Singh said they will be holding another meeting tomorrow to discuss the matter.
Taxi fares will also decrease on the 14th of January whereby the flag fall rate of taxi fares will be from $1.50 to $1 from 6am to 10pm and $2 to $1.50 from 10pm to 6am.
