A bus company in the Northern Division has claimed that it has seized bus service in some areas of Seaqaqa a month ago as it’s not profitable.

Bulileka Transport Director Ravin Deo had raised concern that many people from Vunivere and Navaidamu have moved elsewhere after leases expired and their buses have to travel 70km from Labasa town to pick only a few passengers.

He added company cannot continue digging its own pockets to bare the costs. He said bad road conditions and illegal operation by carriers is making situation worse.

Farmers are finding difficulty in taking their produce to the market and students sitting for their examinations are not able to reach school on time.

The company is having talks with LTA to resolve the matter as some people who don't have other means of transport have raised concern that they are badly affected.

Meanwhile, LTA officials in the North have warned that the company could lose its licence if it continues to boycott its bus service.
