The Fiji Bus Operators Association has expressed serious concern at the continuous fuel price hike in the past three months.

The General Secretary Rohit Latchan said the 20% devaluation has increased operating costs by an estimated 12.3%.

Latchan said the increase in price of fuel in three months from May to July is altogether 46 cents a litre which is too much for the industry.

He said the Association is now working closely with the Land Transport Authority (LTA) and the Transport Ministry to address these issues and is hopeful of these being resolved on a timely basis.

He said this will otherwise increase the serious financial difficulties that operators are currently facing.

Meanwhile, cabinet is yet to decide on the bus and taxi fare increase.
