France based Seremaia Burotu is the notable exclusion from the Fiji 7s training squad for the Rugby World cup which was announced by Head coach Alifereti Dere yesterday.

Burotu was in top form in the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s tournament where he showed a lot of class playing for the Westfield Barbarians team. 

He was also named the player of the tournament.

Also missing out from the squad is Joeli Lutumailagi.

Coach Alifereti Dere is expected to comment later today on the issue.

The players in the squad include Leone Nakarawa, Lepani Botia, Nemani Nagusa, Joji Raqamate, Metuisela Talebula, Vereniki Goneva, Samisoni Viriviri, Jasa Veremalua, Waisea Nayacalevu, Watisoni Votu, Alipate Ratini, Ilai Tinai, Jone Vota, Setefano Cakau, Osea Kolinisau, Timoci Matanavou, Sakiusa Gavidi, Emosi Mulevoro, Donasio Ratubuli, Ulai-asi Lawavou and Sunia Kubu.

Meanwhile, Westfield Barbarians are the new champions of the 37th Fiji Bitter Marist 7's tournament after they beat Wardens Gold 24-nil in the cup final.

This is the first time Westfield Barbarians has won this prestigious tournament.

Waisea Nacuqu scored the first try for Westfield with Joshua Tuisova, Seremaia Burotu and Pio Tuwai also getting a try each.
