It is not known how the Bureau of Statistics will work on the statistics of all races in Fiji if our national identity will be changed to Fijian as proposed under the draft People's Charter.
Bureau of Statistics deputy chief Epeli Waqavonovono said they will work according to the regulations given by the government of the day.
He said their main role is to collect effective information and data which will be a useful tool to the government.
Waqavonovono has directed all enquiries on whether the proposed Charter will be a hindrance to their work to the Chief Bureau statistician Timoci Bainimarama.
