Interim Public Service Minister, Poseci Bune is expected to meet with representatives of the Fijian Teachers Association, Public Employees Union and Viti National Union of Taukei Workers this hour to try and avert the strike this Thursday.
The interim cabinet meeting to discuss the nurses’ strike and the looming FICTU strike finished in the last hour and Interim Prime Minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama is expected to make a statement soon.
Interim Education Minister, Netani Sukanaivalu referred all queries to Bainimarama.
Interim Labour Minister, Bernadette Ganilau also refused to comment on whether she would refer the nurses’ industrial dispute to compulsory arbitration.
