The Fiji Warriors were edged by Brumby Runners 30-28 at Viking Park last night.

This was the first defeat for the Fiji Warriors in the Pacific Nations cup with wins already registered against the Reds Academy and Junior Waratahs.

The Warriors had a chance to grab the win last night after the final siren with a penalty goal from past half way from Taniela Rawaqa, but the shot was short leaving the Runners in final control with the score.

A penalty goal by the Brumby Runners in the final two minutes effectively sealed the Fijian’s fate after the lead changed hands on several occasions throughout the game.

Warriors first half tries came from winger Jona Tuitoga and flanker Aca Ratuva.

The Warriors looked lost in the beginning of the second half but again they pulled themselves back into the game through a penalty goal to Rawaqa and try to Paula Karatu.

But it was to no avail as the Runners clung to the most slender of lead.

The Fiji Warriors play the Development Crusaders side at 5.10pm this Friday in the New Zealand series.
