Brumbies coach Stephen Larkham said they will have to lift their performance if they are to maintain where they left off last season and they must expand their Super Rugby game plan accordingly this year.

On the way to becoming Super Rugby runners-up to the Chiefs last year, the Brumbies were criticized for their reliance on a conservative, South African style which relied heavily on kicking.

Now they have former Wallabies first five Larkham, a man with strong attacking instincts, as their new head coach.

The squad now boasts 13 Wallabies, with the likes of backline stars Nic White, Matt Toomua, Christian Lealiifano, Joe Tomane, Tevita Kuridrani and Jesse Mogg.

The Brumbies will take on the Reds next Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Super Rugby season kicks off this Sunday with the Cheetahs taking on the Lions at 3.05am while the Sharks will play the Bulls 5.10am.
