Quarantine of Brucellosis affected areas in the Central Division has been extended for a further 3 months effective from the 1st of January.
Primary Industry Permanent Secretary Colonel Mason Smith said this has been done as a precautionary measure, as they are still waiting for the results from the fourth round of testing and at the same time allowing the department to effectively carry out its eradication campaign.
Smith said to date they have tested over 24,000 cattle.
The extension will expire on March 31st and movement of all kinds of animals in and out of the declared Bio-security Emergency Area will be restricted and closely monitored.
