Brucellosis can also be contracted in a similar way to Leptospirosis and that is through open wounds.
Principal Vet Dr Robin Achari said as the handling of dairy and meat products are not only confined to those working in the industry, precautionary measures must be followed by everyone.
Dr Achari said they have advised people to where full protective gear when coming into contact with cattle, especially as the disease can easily penetrate an open wound.
Dr Achari said Brucellosis however cannot be passed on from one human to another.
He added people should not panic as the situation is under control.
