Wallabies tight head prop Salesi Ma'afu is set to see a familiar face as a loose head rival when he wins his first cap against Fiji on Saturday, his brother and fellow Test debutante Campese Ma'afu.
The remarkable scenario of the Ma'afu brothers packing down against each other in maiden Tests is an encounter to watch as 122kg giant Salesi was unveiled today as one of five Wallabies to make their debuts against Fiji.
Younger brother Campese, who weighs 118kg, usually plays alongside his brother at West Harbour but recently travelled to the Fijian national trials and won selection in their Australian touring squad.
Wallabies coach Robbie Deans is set to utilise an existing combination by naming uncapped Huia Edmonds at No. 2 and Ben Alexander at loose head.
The trio packed down together in the Wallabies' first training session yesterday.
As expected, Quade Cooper will be named as five eighth with Matt Giteau at inside centre while Waratahs Rob Horne will put several seasons of heartbreak and injury behind him to make his Test debut.
The bold selection of Kurtley Beale at fullback will see Adam Ashley Cooper shifted to one wing, with Digby Ioane occupying the other.
Our Australian correspondent Tim Gavel said the selection of Cooper and Beale in two key positions signals a strategic intent of all out attack by Deans.
Fiji coach Samu Domoni Jnr said one of the major areas that the team concentrated on during training was the "basics of rugby".
He said it is a question of how they apply that on the day that matters.
The Flying Fijians/Wallabies match kicks off at 9:40pm Saturday at Canberra Stadium.
