Communications Fiji Limited Managing Director, William Parkinson has raised concern that the interim cabinet has approved significant increases in the license fee levies for radio broadcasting without proper consultations.
Under the new fee structure, radio broadcasting services will be charged $10,000 plus VAT per annum or 1.5% of the annual gross turnover, which ever is greater.
Parkinson said he is trying to meet the Interim Communications Minister Taito Waradi to discuss this decision.
According to Parkinson, there will be an increase of more than 5000% in fees which is unfair.
Meanwhile, Fiji Television Limited is expected to comment later today as the fees for television broadcasting has also increased from $1000 to $20,000 per annum, or 1.5 percent of the annual gross turnover, whichever is greater.
