There are signs of a brighter future for the northern division as a number of investment projects heads towards Labasa.
Chamber of Commerce Labasa President Ashok Karan said the construction of a new hotel and a Courts Homecentres building, which will cost around $1m, will play a major role in boosting the town's growth and that these projects have proved that businessmen still have faith in the Northern Division.
With the Jack's branch also opening in Labasa, Karan said the investments undertaken showed that Labasa had the capacity to bring more investors, and hence will also prevent people from moving to other parts of Fiji for employment opportunities.
