Prison's Commissioner, Brigadier General Iowane Naivalurua has been appointed the new Police Commissioner.
Permanant Secretary for Prime Minister's Office, Col. Pio Tikoduadua made the announcement in the last hour saying that the appointment was made by President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau on the recommendation by Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama.
While accepting the appointment, Brigadier General Iowane Naivalurua said he will work to ensure an effective and efficient police force.
Naivalurua is also be the Prison's Commissioner until such time government finds a suitable replacement.
It has also been announced that Joeli Baleilevuka will be the Deputy Commissioner of Police.
