Bridges flooded
These include Vuci South Road, Waituri bridge, Naqali bridge, Waima bridge, Qelekuro bridge, Vatuwaqa bridge in Naitasiri, and flood waters are almost above the Korovou bridge.
In Nausori, Koronivia Flats is flooded and the Waila road is flooded and closed to all traffic.
Some residents in Waila have told us that several homes have been damaged by falling trees and water levels in the nearby stream continues to rise.
Police said those affected are taking shelter at their neighbors’ place and also at some churches and school halls in their respective areas.
Meanwhile, the Rewa river is also expected to burst its bank within the next few hours and Dobui added that they have set up evacuation centres around the Central/Eastern Division to cater for those who flee the waters.
A resident at Dilkusha, Fairul Azim said the water is rising rapidly and this has seen people moving to higher ground.
Meanwhile, Edinburgh Drive in Suva is closed from 4pm today until further notice due to the danger of landslides.
The Kings Road is also closed due to flooding, landslides and fallen power lines.
