The only way to tackle teenage pregnancy is to break the barrier of silence.
That is the sentiment of the Health Ministry as they gear up for another campaign to address the issue of teenage pregnancies and the spread of sexually transmitted diseases.
Health Ministry spokesperson, Iliesa Tora said for 2009 the Ministry undertook a huge campaign on the use of condom and says that they were able to reach many, cultural values was a problem.
At the moment, all health centres, sub divisional hospitals and divisional hospitals are handing out free condoms.
Tora adds that for 2010 the Ministry will be adopting the theme of "Abstinence" to tackle teenage pregnancies.
Though the Ministry is compiling their data for this year, they reveal that in 2008 there were a total of 1186 teenage pregnancy cases compared to 1237 cases in 2007.
