Brazil is through to the FIFA World Cup quarterfinals after a dramatic 3-2 penalty shootout win against Chile this morning.
Gonzalo Jara missed a spot‑kick which gave the tournament hosts the victory in their last 16 clash and putting them through to the quarterfinals.
The game was forced into extra time after David Luiz put the five‑time World Cup champions ahead in the 18th minute before Chile's Alexis Sanchez equalized.
Mauricio Pinilla nearly won the match for Chile, late in extra‑time, when his thunderous shot came crashing back off the crossbar.
Brazil’s goalkeeper Julio Cesar was the Man of the Match after saving two kicks on penalty shootout.
Meanwhile in the second elimination Colombia has beaten Uruguay 2-nil.
Brazil will now face Colombia in one of the quarterfinals.
