FIFA World Cup favourites, Brazil and Argentina are now tipped by soccer pundits as the teams to beat in South Africa after the second round of pool games were completed this morning.
Only four teams have so far confirmed their spot in the second round of competition where the Pool winners and runners up from the 8 pools will progress into the second stage of the competition.
The four teams are Argentina, Brazil, Netherlands and Chile.
In Pool A, Uruguay and Mexico will play at 2am tomorrow morning and a draw in this game will mean both sides will qualify for the second round.
Also France and South Africa will play at 2am to avoid any match fixing and the 1998 champion, France together with the host nation of the World Cup will just have to wait for the results of the other game to see where they will stand in the points standing.
France coach Raymond Domenech says some of his players may refuse to face South Africa because of Nicolas Anelka's expulsion from the squad.
Speaking through a interpreter Domench says the challenge is now for the players to come out with a win.
Argentina has already booked a spot in Pool B and will be joined by either South Korea or Greece.
Pool C is still wide open with Slovenia, USA and England all in the running.
Likewise in Pool D the Ghana and Germany game will determine the spot in the play-off while Serbia and Australia have slim chances to qualify.
Netherlands are through from Pool E and the winner of the Denmark and Japan game will join them to the next stage.
Group F has a very interesting scenario where Paraguay is leading with 4 points and will play New Zealand on Friday.
The All Whites will need to beat Paraguay to reach the second round and a draw could favour defending champion Italy who are taking on Slovakia.
2010 World Cup favourites, Brazil have qualified from Pool G where they are likely to be joined by Portugal.
The last group in Pool H the battle is between Chile, Spain and Switerzerland.
Results from last night games, Portugal thumped North Korea 7-nil, Chile beat Switzerland 1-nil and Spain defeated Honduras 2-nil.
Looking at the upcoming games at 2am tomorrow morning there will two matches Mexico plays Uruguay and France takes on hosts South Africa.
