Three men and a juvenile appeared in the Suva Magistrates Court this morning charged with attempted robbery and damaging property after they tried to steal the brass monuments from headstones from the military cemetery in Suva and caused $100,000 worth of damage.

Tevita Voivoi, Josese Bola, Jone Rabukuwaqa and the juvenile pleaded guilty and told the court that they intended to sell the brass plates at a scrap metal outlet in Lami.

Meanwhile, Magistrate Aminiasi Katonivualiku was outraged after learning that one of the accused is just 16 years old and had been jointly charged with the other three.

He raised concern that the case was first called in February but the matter was not raised.

He ordered that a social welfare report be prepared on the juvenile and he will sentence the other three accused on November 28th.
