Boxing fans are raising concern after the Heavyweight Title holder Petero Qica failed to defend his Boxing Commission of Fiji title against Napoleon Taumoepeau on Saturday night.
Fans have called for a refund from promoter Abdul Khan after the main fight did not go ahead at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.
But Khan felt for the fans and says that the Boxing Commission of Fiji should take away the title from Qica and award it to Taumoepeau.
Qica told Fijivillage yesterday that he had pulled a hamstring a few hours prior to the fight.
Qica produced a medical certificate at the ground and his manager apologised to the crowd.
Khan says this will not help the development of boxing in Fiji and the Commission should put an end to this kind of behaviour.
Meanwhile Taumoepeau says he was frustrated with the way Qica responded and says he does not deserve to be called Fiji’s Heavyweight Champion.
Petero Qica defeated Mosese Kavika in 2011 to win the Fiji heavyweight title.
