The Board of the Boxing Commission of Fiji is adamant that FASANOC will consider amateur boxing as a sport that they need to represent in the regional and international meets in future. 

Chairman, John Rabuku’s comments come as the President of FASANOC, Vidya Lakhan confirmed that Boxing Fiji will lose its membership with FASANOC as the board went on to dissolve the Boxing Fiji Association this morning.

Rabuku added under the Boxing Commission of Fiji Promulgation 2008, the Boxing Commission of Fiji is not answerable to FASANOC.

He added they cannot set up the Amateur association if they do not dissolve the body that was running boxing in the country.


FASANOC President, Vidya Lakhan said the move is disappointing and he will address this with the Minister responsible.


In a press conference today, while announcing the Boxing Fiji Association has been dissolved, Board Chairman, John Rabuku stated that since 2008 a lot of things have not been done by the association.

According to him these include no registration of professional boxers, officials and promoters and also proper license was not given to overseas boxers who came to Fiji.
