Prominent boxer and Fiji's middle weight champion Zulfikar Joy Ali appeared in the Nadi Magistrates yesterday charged with one count of allegedly cultivating marijuana.
Joy Ali appeared before Magistrate Nazeem Sahu Khan and has been remanded in custody.
No plea was taken and the matter has been transferred to the Lautoka High Court.
It is alleged that on Tuesday night a team of officers uprooted 139 marijuana plants from beside Ali's house.
The matter will be called again on 2nd August.
