Bower describes Team Fiji’s performance as satisfactory
This is how Team Fiji Chef De Mission, Patrick Bower described our athletes performance in New Caledonia.
Fiji was defiantly looking to win over 40 gold medals but as the game comes to an end today, Fiji sits fourth on the medal tally with 32 gold, 42 silver and 51 bronze medals.
Bower said this was not the result they were expecting and serious thought now needs to be put on how we are to compete in various sports against ever improving countries like New Caledonia, Tahiti and Papua New Guinea.
New Caledonia has won the games with 113 gold, 100 silver and 56 bronze while Tahiti will finish second with 58 gold, 42 silver and 39 bronze medals.
Papua New Guinea is third with 47 gold, 24 silver and 47 bronze medals.
In the games today, our Mens beach volleyball team will play in the final against New Caledonia at 1pm while in athletics, Womens long jump final and shot put throw is currently underway.
The closing ceremony will start at 6pm
