There is a possibility that veteran Springboks lock forward Bakkies Botha may be rushed to New Zealand.

This comes after Eben Etzebeth was suspended for two weeks after head butting Wallabies lock Nathan Sharpe in last week’s match.

Springboks coach Heyneke Meyer admits they are considering backup plans that included Botha, the 76-test veteran who hasn’t played a test since the World Cup, but has been active with French club Toulon.

Etzebeth’s absence further complicates the Boks’ tight forward problems, which are already being hampered by injuries.

The Springboks will make a call today on whether to fly in cover for a potential propping crisis as well while the Boks are happy that wing Bryan Habana’s ankle injury would be alright.

The All Blacks and Springboks match kicks off at 7.35pm this Saturday.
