Bose ni Matanitu Vanua of Tailevu Concerned
According to the statement signed by Bau chiefs Ratu Epenisa Cakobau and Ratu Veiwili Komaitai, Tailevu said the National Council for Building a Better Fiji is expected to bring a lot of changes especially to the rule of law and the Constitution. They say it will also bring about changes to the laws of the land which can affect the elections.
The Bose ni Matanitu Vanua of Tailevu said the changes will bring confusion amongst the Indigenous Fijians and the government which defeats the purpose of Section 11 of the Fijian Affairs Act where it states that there should be coordination.
The chiefs said this can only be changed when two thirds of the members of the Parliament agree and take a vote.
Meanwhile the Roko Tui Tailevu, Joape Nalatu confirms they will respect the decision from the Bose Vanua which was held in Bau Island last month.
Nalatu said the Tailevu chiefs had already decided they will not accept the People's Charter process. However they will not ban the NCBBF officials from visiting the villages around Tailevu.
The 2nd day of the Tailevu Provincial Council meeting will be held today at Ratu Cakobau House in Nausori
