The Viti Landowners and Resource Owners Association said the Bose ni Turaga is not a political rally and is not inciting people as alleged by Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama.
Association President Ratu Osea said the Bose ni Turaga which was organized after the 2000 upheaval was a success as the 222 chiefs had the chance to endorse Ratu Josefa Iloilo to become the President who later called for a general election which saw Fiji return to democratic rule.
He said the people of Fiji have been suffering for the last 14 months since the interim government took power and they hope the Bose ni Turaga could explore ways in taking the country forward.
Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama has stressed that the Bose ni Turaga cannot go ahead until they get a permit to do so from the interim government.
Commodore Bainimarama told Village News that no one wants to see an uprising like 2000 and the media should ensure that they do not start a situation that may be disastrous for the nation.
