The Interim Finance Minister, Mahendra Chaudhry says a government which borrows money for pay increases is not managing its funds well.
Chaudhry, speaking at the Fiji Labour Party's Annual Convention in Suva yesterday, reiterated that the interim regime will not follow the SDL government with regards to state finances.
Chaudhry had also said that restoring the 5% pay cut for the nurses would mean paying out all the civil servants which would equate to over 30 million tax dollars.
Chaudhry says the interim regime has agreed to some of the Fiji Nursing Association's demands but there is no room for negotiations on the pay cut restoration as they can only restore 1 percent in December.
