The first published report to scientifically document the realities of Fijian sex workers lives and implications of HIV prevention called - Sex Work - A Risky Business in Fiji has highlighted that sex workers often try to educate their clients as well as one another about HIV prevention.
Speaking at the launch, author Karen McMillan told a story about one of the nights she was in the streets of Suva doing an interview with sex workers, when she came across an incident of how the sex workers help each other out to prevent HIV/ AIDS.
McMillan also highlights ways in which we can fight to prevent the spread of HIV AIDS in Fiji.
In her research she interviewed 40 sex workers in Nadi, Labasa, Lautoka and Nadi before coming up with the report.
