The new Higher Education Commission in the country will put graduates in Fiji on par with the graduates from other countries in the near future.

Those are the words of the Interim Education Minister Filipe Bole as he opened the inaugural meeting of the Higher Education Advisory Board this morning.

He said many countries in the world are using the legislation to manage their higher education for it to become more effective for socio-economic and political development.

Bole said the Higher Education Advisory Board has been mandated by the Cabinet to begin the regulation of higher education sector through a process of registration of existing and new higher education institutions which will include setting minimum standards for courses, programs and facilities and higher institutions will have to follow certain criteria and guidelines to get registered as higher education Institutes in Fiji.
