The Fiji Sports Council has received five final nominations for the 2008 Sports Personality of Year and are expected to release the names by the end of this week.

A likely top contender to claim the Sportsperson for 2008 is Fiji's leading Whistleman, James Bolabiu.

Another likely contender for the spot is Fiji's own history making Rugby League Fiji Bati Coach, Joe Rabele who took the boys for the first time to the Semifinals of the 2008 RLWC where they bowed out to winners Australia.

The likely contenders for the top spot are Bolabiu and Rabele, joined by Weightlifting's Manueli Tulo who claimed Gold in the Pune Commonwealth Youth Games, Golfer Vijay Singh who won the FedEx Cup and Rugby's Iliesa Tanivula.

The Winner will be chosen in March during the 2008 FASANOC Sports Awards Night.
