The Fiji Rugby Union board has today terminated the employment contract of their National Academy Program’s Manager Frank Boivert after being served a notice by the Immigration Department on Tuesday for employing Boivert without following the proper immigration procedures.

Boivert had been working as the National Academy Programs Manager for the FRU without a proper permit.

FRU Acting CEO Dr Berlin Kafoa said the board made the decision to terminate Boivert’s contract immediately in accordance with the immigration laws of Fiji.

Dr Kafoa added they have to comply with Fiji’s Immigration laws.

Dr Kafoa said they will advertise the post soon.

In the official correspondence issued by the Immigration Department to FRU, Boivert is in Fiji on an investors permit and therefore is not entitled to be employed in Fiji until a work permit is granted.

Boivert first joined FRU in 2012 as the Coaching Director and was later appointed to the National Academy Programs Manager early this year.
